Toddler hit by car in Dannevirke

A toddler has been taken to Palmerston North Hospital after being hit by a car.

The child, believed to be two or three-years-old, was hit by a ute near the intersection of Dannevirke's Allerdice St and State Highway 2 High St, shortly after 2pm today.

Acting Inspector Bruce McKay said the child suffered a head injury, but was conscious.

It was unclear how serious the injuries were, or how the incident occurred.

The child was taken to Palmerston North Hospital by St John Ambulance.
