Meatworker remains seriously ill
LATEST: The condition of a man in Palmerston North Hospital after an incident involving a stock ramp at Alliance Meatworks in Dannevirke is improving.
The man, in his 60s, remained seriously ill in the intensive care unit of the hospital this morning, an improvement on the critically ill state he has been in over the past two days.
On Sunday the man was operating a stock loading race - a ramp to get stock off trucks - when the accident occurred.
A spokesman from WorkSafe New Zealand has confirmed it is investigating.
New Zealand Meat Workers' Union general secretary Graham Cooke said the man was not a member of the union, but the union was concerned about any injuries.
