Benny Tipene is coming back home to Palmerston North to perform. You....
It's homecoming time for Benny Tipene, with the musician set to perform twice in Palmerston North in March, including a free concert in The Square.
Tipene was announced yesterday as one of two headliners for a March 16 Free Summer Concert in The Square. The show, scheduled to run from 3pm until 7pm, will also feature the Black Seeds.
Tipene, who has recently been living in Auckland, will also perform at The Royal on March 1 as part of Massey University Students Association's Orientation events.
After finishing third last year on New Zealand's version of The X Factor he saw his debut single, Walking on Water, debut at No 1 on the Kiwi charts.
The song has since gone platinum during a year where Tipene performed at high-profile gigs around the country, including at Rhythm and Vines, and Parachute.
The Square concert, supported by Destination Manawatu, Palmerston North City Council, Student City and Media Works Manawatu, is pitched as family-friendly. If wet, it will be indoors at Arena Manawatu.
