Fire crews battle burn-off
Fire crews from Hunterville were out for three hours battling a scrub fire after a burn-off got out of control.
The fire service were called to the blaze on Gibbon Rd, Hunterville, shortly after 3pm yesterday.
Hunterville deputy fire chief Steve Monks said the 100sqm fire was burning on three faces of a hillside, and proved difficult to gain access to.
The only access to water for the crews was via three tankers, which had to refill in town before returning to the site.
Mr Monks said the farmer told them that in all his years of having burn-offs, it was the first time one had gotten out of control.
