Feilding man burns hands fixing car

A Feilding man was taken to Palmerston North Hospital with first degree burns last night after a vehicle he was repairing is believed to have leaked fuel and caught alight.

Police are investigating the Kawakawa Rd fire that two other members of the house extinguished with a garden hose.

The Feilding Fire Service and St John also attended.

Police Senior Sergeant Brett Calkin said the man was found with burns to his hands and the right side of his body.

He was taken to Palmerston North Hospital.
