Feilding police are searching for a man in his 20s after a pursuit in a stolen car this morning.

Sergeant Dave Burmeister said police were on the lookout for a Holden Commodore, stolen from Awa St on Monday.

It was seen outside Feilding shortly after 10am this morning.

Police gave chase when the driver attempted to flee police, reaching speeds of more than 150kmh along rural Makino Rd and Mangaone Rd.

Burmeister said the pursuit lasted about five minutes before it was called off due to the dangerous speeds.

The car was found a short time later, deserted at an unrelated Mangaone Rd property.

The driver was nowhere to be seen and police believe he may have been picked up by another vehicle.

Police were still searching for the man, but were not ready to identify him.
