A Feilding man had to be flown to Hutt Hospital in the middle of the night after suffering burns while working on a car.
The 43-year-old was first taken to Palmerston North Hospital after the incident on Tuesday night, but about 2am yesterday the Palmerston North rescue helicopter transferred him to Hutt Hospital.
The man was believed to have been working on a car when leaked fuel caught alight. He suffered burns to his body and hands.
A Palmerston North Hospital nurse accompanied the patient.
