A Palmerston North Lotto player has won first division, but their lucky score pales in comparison with the weekend’s biggest winner.
A ticket bought at Countdown Kelvin Grove was one of five first division winners meaning its owner has secured $200,000.
However a ticket bought at Willy Wonka’s Superette, in downtown Auckland, has won $26.2 million after it also won first division Powerball.
‘‘This win goes straight into Lotto’s history books,’’ Lotteries Commission head of corporate communications Emilia Mazur said.
‘‘This is the sixth biggest Lotto prize in New Zealand history. We can’t wait to meet New Zealand’s latest multi-millionaire and celebrate with them.’’
The total Lotto Powerball prize of $26.2 million is made up of $26,061,898 million from Powerball First Division and $200,000 from Lotto First Division.
Last night’s bonanza is the first Powerball prize to be won in 2014.
The other first division winners bought their tickets at Papamoa Beach Four Square, New World Orewaand at MyLotto.co.nz.
