More than 300 showjumpers from as far north as Auckland have spent the weekend at Manfeild Park putting their horses through their paces.

Showjumping competitions were held across a range of categories in Feilding over the past three days as part of the Feilding IA&P Show.

Organiser Jill Martin said she was delighted with the competitor turnout considering there were several other equine events being held in the lower North Island at the weekend. The top prize for the grand prix competition went to former Olympian Maurice Beatson of Dannevirke, on Centrico.

Beatson headed off 14 other combinations to take the honours comfortably ahead of Auckland's Danielle Maurer on Double Dutch, who was the only other rider to go double clear.

The lower drink-driving limits from December are:

Great - too much carnage on our roads.

Overkill - targets moderate drinkers, not the heavies

Still too little - make it zero tolerance.

Sensible - punishment is in line with lesser breaches of limit.
