Milson fire fighters were called out to a fire, thought to be suspicious, at the Hoffman Kiln site in Palmerston North last night.

Two fire trucks were sent to the building fire in Featherston St, Roslyn, about 6pm.

A fire service communications spokesman said there was a small fire in the roof.

Meanwhile the Feilding volunteer fire brigade was called out three times in the space of two hours last night.

Acting chief fire officer Gary Ward said the first call came in about 6.30pm for smoke in the area in Gladstone St.

Shortly after, the brigade was needed on Russell St for a fire in a kitchen about 7.10pm.

Mr Ward said the final callout about 8.30pm was to assist St John on Russell St.

The lower drink-driving limits from December are:

Great - too much carnage on our roads.

Overkill - targets moderate drinkers, not the heavies

Still too little - make it zero tolerance.

Sensible - punishment is in line with lesser breaches of limit.
