The elevator replacement programme at the Palmerston North Hospital is nearing the halfway mark, with the first lift expected to be back in action at the end of the month.
Maternity inpatient services were relocated while the first elevator was replaced, and will return once the new lift is operating.
Ear plugs were also offered to all patients while the work was being done.
The replacement programme, in the Women's and Child Health Services block, is running to schedule and should be completed in June.
Work will begin on the second elevator on April 7 and is expected to take 12 weeks.
