After testing the waters last November, the Palmy Craft Market is set to become a monthly event in Palmerston North.

Organiser Deepika Gosai said the goal was to provide an opportunity for crafters to display and sell their wares, and encourage shoppers to support local suppliers.

She said there was a gap in Palmerston North's market for arts and crafts, and she planned to provide an environment for vendors and shoppers.

"I am an avid supporter of buying New Zealand made, and am looking forward to supporting crafty locals," she said. "We have a vibrant city scape, and I hope to add to that."

The first market was held at the Barber Hall. The next, on Saturday, April 12, will be at Hokowhitu School.
