A female was taken to Palmerston North Hospital in a serious condition this morning after a collision between a truck and a car.

LATEST: The collision between a truck and a Mitsubishi station wagon occurred about 3.50am on Rangitikei Line - State Highway 3 - in Newbury, Inspector Brett Calkin, of Palmerston North, said.

The road was partially blocked for about an hour, he said.

A central fire communications spokesman said she had been trapped in her vehicle.
