A possible gas leak at Palmerston North police station has been left in the hands of gas services after prompting an emergency call out.
Police central communications shift inspector Marc Clausen said police logged the job about their own headquarters at 4.20pm.
"There is a possible gas leak but we're not sure if it is inside or outside," he said.
Clausen said no one was immediately evacuated and the incident was over.
The Fire Service attended the scene after being called to reports of a gas smell but left after liaising with the gas company.
