Uncertainty about the weather this week, and a fully booked Manfeild circuit means the Manawatu Fireworks Spectacular is set to become the perfect family Christmas treat.
Always a huge crowd puller, the annual event will now be staged on Tuesday, December 22, with the following night as a backup date.
Organisers Feilding Promotion, Manfeild Trust and Kairanga Lions had hoped to run the display last night, having been postponed from October 28, but were defeated by the weather forecast.
However, they're upbeat about the prospect of producing a real Christmas cracker instead.
Manfeild chief executive Heather Verry said it's a shame they have to postpone for a second week.
However, more wind and rain are expected later in the week and the ground remains very wet.
Mrs Verry said the organising committee had been considering permanently moving the event to later in the year.
