Emergency services are at the scene of a crash in the Clark Valley, Hope Saddle between Nelson and Murchison.

This road is also known as State Highway 6, Kohatu-Kawatiri Highway.

A truck and trailer unit had rolled, then gone sideways and was completely blocking the road. The driver of the truck escaped from the cab with no injuries.

There was no immediate alternate route around the crash scene. The only long way around is through St Arnaud and Blenheim.

Recovery vehicles were on the way to the scene. There was no estimated time when the road would be reopened.

Motorists were warned that there would be delays if travelling the route.
