A new initiative aimed at attracting school age kids to golf is coming to the Manawatu Golf Club on Sunday.
Junior Tiger involves a series of fun events to find New Zealand's junior Tiger Woods.
Sunday's is one of the 21 regional events and runs from 9am to 1pm.
First timers can try the game in teams with clubs and equipment provided and can take part in a 9-hole competition.
The leading four boys and girls in each region will go to a national final in Palmerston North in December. New Zealand's Junior Tiger winner will go to the World Junior Golf Championships in the United States, along with a family trip to Disneyland.
There is an interactive website that includes an animated 3D character to teach golf, along with games, tournaments, player galleries and fan blogs.
Kids from each event will selected on attitude for a Junior Tiger Academy where they will receive coaching and a membership.
Children who enter must have a caregiver to caddie for them.
