Manawatu Lawn Tennis Club's Anika Patel won the under-12s girls event at the Tennis Central Region RPC Tournament in Wairarapa during the weekend.
Patel dominated her round robin matches and went on to win her semifinal convincingly, 9-2.
She met Wairarapa star Georgia Atkinson in the final and won, 4-6, 6-2, 10-7, in the super tiebreak.
The tournament was only open to players in the Central region who were competing for points towards selection for the Tennis Central 12s, 14s and 16s teams to compete at the nationals in January.
