The Feilding High School girls team are now the South Island secondary schools champions after a dominant week at a rugby festival finished in Oamaru yesterday.
Feilding spent the start of the week staying at St Kevin's College in Oamaru playing some shortened, 25-minute games against schools from the lower half of the South Island.
Feilding started with a 43-17 friendly win over Christchurch's High School Old Boys women's team, then in the secondary schools tournament, they beat St Margaret's College, Christchurch, 47-0, Christchurch Girls' High School 32-0, Dunedin's St Hilda's Collegiate School 41-0, Burnside High School (Christchurch) 22-0 and St Kevin's 57-0. In the semifinal, Feilding beat Southland Girls' High School 41-0, and in the final against Christchurch Girls', they had their closest game, winning 12-0.
Feilding travelled to the South Island in search of a wider variety of competition as they look to qualify for the national competition finals in Palmerston North in September.
