This weekend marks round 2 of the Manawatu winter motor racing series, but also extends to new activities.
On Saturday morning there is Pedal Power at Manfeild in association with Sport Manawatu.
Manfeild provides a safe venue for winter training rides, and as part of community awareness Motor-sport Manawatu want to share this facility with the larger com-munity.
The New Zealand Superlap series starts at Manfeild, being organised by Motorsport Manawatu on Saturday after the cycling.
Superlap has had a few goes at getting going, and now ultra successful events like the World Time Attack series in Australia have lifted the bar.
Superlap is simply man and machine versus the clock over one flying lap.
Very similar to a Supercar qualifying shootout, drivers spend a day tuning their cars, then get one lap to put it all together.
There are four classes, including a Dial Your Own, which means that everyone is competitive.
It is timed using using Motorsport Manawatu's state-of-the-art AMB system.
The United Travel race series round 2 is on Sunday at Manfeild.
