Manawatu maintained their lead at the top of the zone two Hawke Cup table after their outright win against Whanganui at the weekend.

Manawatu lead on 40 points after four outright wins, Hawke's Bay are second on 30, Taranaki are on 27, Whanganui 10, Horowhenua-Kapiti 8 and Whanganui 1.

Manawatu's final game is against Taranaki in Palmerston North next weekend and unless Manawatu get no points out of the game and Hawke's Bay can get a big outright win, then Manawatu will top the zone.

Taranaki would need a big outright win against Manawatu to give Hawke's Bay any chance, as even in a draw you get a point.

None of the other teams can make it.

Manawatu are also well ahead in the net runs per wicket calculations with +29.9, with Taranaki the next best on +11.51 and Hawke's Bay are on +6.64.

Wairarapa are on -17.31, Horowhenua-Kapiti on -13.36 and Whanganui -12.96.

Opinion poll

Will Aaron Cruden's omission hurt or help the All Blacks?

Hurt - he needs as much game time as possible.

Help - finally Beauden Barrett will get a proper run.

Hmmm - no biggie, just a temporary hitch.

Who is Cruden? I support the All Whites.
