The Palmerston North Boys' High School first XI lost their second Super 8 final to Hamilton Boys' High School in as many years.
Boys' High lost Thursday's final by seven wickets in Hastings, after losing last year's edition to them by nine wickets in Palmerston North.
Boys' High coach Mike Taiuru said they were disappointed to lose the final again but second place wasn't bad.
"The reason I think we lost was we played on a four-day-old wicket that was dry and very dusty and turning a bit," he said. "They played spin better than we did."
Boys' High will now focus on qualifying for the Gillette Cup. Their first game is probably next month against Paraparaumu College and if they win that then it could be a rematch against the team that knocked them out last year.
If they beat Paraparaumu College they will play the Wairarapa winner and that will probably be Rathkeale College who knocked Boys' High out last year.
