Levin race rivals Just A Whisper and Beada Believe It worked together in fine fashion at Awapuni yesterday.
Fast gallops took place on the plough and on the outside of the No 1 grass (slow-heavy).
Just A Whisper and Beada Believe It, both in the r70 3yo 1400m tomorrow, were paired over a solid 800m in 49, the last 600 in 36.3, which was nice work.
Between Friends, who goes to the Taumarunui meeting at Te Rapa for the special conditions maiden mile, looked in great heart for the trip north and, accordingly, ran a good trial over 1000m in 1.4.7, with the final 800m taking 50.9, the last 600 in 37.1.
Her stablemate Sir Cosworth almost copied that time when running 1000m in 1.4.3, the last 600 in 37.7. He is balloted out of the r80 1400m, but will make the trip to Te Rapa tomorrow morning anyway.
Propel, whose next race is the CJC Winter Cup tomorrow week, was timed 1200m in 1.18, the last 600 in 37.3, and Relentless One, in the maiden mile at Levin, covered 800m in 51.7, the last 600 in 37.4.
Superturf (by Black Minnaloushe) and Lady Montague (by Bertolini), 2-year-olds with Greg Lambert, ran 1000m in 1.7.5, the last 600 in 38.9. Superturf won a trial (1000m) at Otaki on Tuesday of last week.
Optimus, off to Te Rapa tomorrow for a 3-year-old 1200m, had Yelracm for company over 800m in 52.3, the last 600 in 39.6, and Levin runner Ustibecasual (r70 3yo 1400m), who impressed winning on debut, took 53.1 and 39 for 800m.
Morepork (by Thorn Park) and a Pyrus gelding, 2-year-olds with Mike Breslin, left 800m behind in 53.4, the last 600 in 39.1. Morepork won at the Otaki trials (800m) last week.
Levin runner Wiha (mdn mile) had stablemate Sanctuary Light alongside over 1000m in 1.7, the last 600 in 39.1, and Ryder Stakes prospect Surf Patrol was kept to a 600m gallop in 41.7. Tai Chi Queen clocked 42.1.
On the No 1 grass, Wai Zoners (r70 2100m) and Samantha Jane (r90 2100m) went together over 800m in 51.9, the last 600 in 39.3. Wai Zoners will wear blinkers for the first time at Levin tomorrow.
Zealandia, a race rival for Wai Zoners, covered 1000m in 1.6.8, the last 600 in 39.5, while Miss Annaliese and Fighting Harada, galloping together, ran 800m in 53, the last 600 in 39.2.
Taumarunui candidate Blueberry Hill, who is in the special conditions mile, was timed 800m in 53.2, the last 600 in 40.1, and Sam Spratt is the confirmed rider tomorrow. Armani Code, in similar work, took 53.8 and 40.9.
Ben Braggie (r70 1400m) and My Pearly Shells (maiden 1200m), both heading to Levin, galloped together over 800m in 54.3, the last 600 in 40.6, while Acquit (mdn mile) and Yourhavinmeon clocked 54.5 and 40.4.
Waitaha Toa (r90 2100m), who looks well, had jumps jockey Alex Jenkins aboard over 1000m in 1.10.5, the last 600 in 40.5. A Yamanin Vital 2-year-old and one by High Chaparaal, both with Lisa Latta, sprinted 600m in 42.9.
