My Astron looked to be striding out well in training at Hastings yesterday morning as he prepares to kick off a new campaign.

The My Halo gelding, placed in this year's Group 1 Easter Handicap (1600m), has the Mudgway Partsworld Stakes (1400m) at Hastings on August 29 as his first big spring assignment.

Fast work was confined to the plough, and dense fog prevented the timing of most of the gallops.

My Astron had trainer Kelly Burne aboard when working over 800m in the fog. He looked to be travelling very well at the finish.

Where's Andy was one horse that could be timed once the fog lifted and ran a solo 1000m in 1.5, the last 600 in 38.8. He is entered for the rating 70 1600m at Hastings with Kane Smith to ride him.

Dream Of Jazz, another likely runner at Hastings, ended her 1000m workout with 600 in 36.9.

Woo, a likely candidate for the maiden 1400m, worked over a round of pacework and then came out and ran 800m in 52.4, the last 600 in 37.9. Lisa Allpress has been booked to ride her in what will be the horse's race debut.

The Hombre worked over 1000m on his own, but could not be timed in the fog. He will kick off a fresh campaign in the rating 70 1200m at Hawera on Sunday and is one of three horses trainer John Bary intends starting at the Egmont meeting.

The others are Stellardelmar in the maiden 1600m and D'Goldie in the r70 highweight over 1600 metres.

A Faltaat 2-year-old colt finished in front of a Captain Rio 2-year-old filly at the end of a smart 800m in 52.2, the last 600 in 36.9. The Faltaat youngster looks a very promising type.

Elusive Dreams was not pushed when running 600m on her own in 38.4, while Kips Girl ran an easy 600 in 41.

Moonbeams had trainer John Bridge aboard when he schooled over six hurdle fences in the centre.

The horse then worked over 1000m at three-quarter pace, running the last 600 in 45.
