Dolce Vita and Stormbreaker, 2-win horses resuming for Marton trainer Margaret Cartwright tomorrow, turned in a solid final trial together at Awapuni yesterday morning.

Fast work took place on the outside of the No 1 grass (slow) and on the plough (good). Fog hindered the timing of some gallops.

Dolce Vita, ridden by Kelly Myers, and Stormbreaker (Rosie Myers) used the No 1 grass late in the session and they galloped over 800m in 50.6, the last 600 in 37.8.

They are in the r80 1200m and r80 mile respectively at Otaki, and are forward enough to make their presence felt. Rain on the day is forecast, and that will suit Stormbreaker.

My Pearly Shells and a Savabeel gelding stablemate cut out 800m in 51.1, the last 600 in 37.5, and Ben Hogan, in the open 1400m tomorrow, went alone in 51.2 and 38.5.

An Ishiguru maiden and a Postponed maiden ran 800m in 52.4, the last 600 in 38.3, while a Yamanin Vital and a Pins, both with Lisa Latta, sprinted their 600m in 38.3.

Waitaha Toa was sent 1000m, the last 600 in 39.9, and Otaki runner Pania Rose (maiden 1200m) ended with 40.6. Fog hindered timing.

Ping Pong (r70 1400m) had Miss Annaliese for a partner over 800m, the last 600 in 40.2, and a Keeper filly from the same stable went 800m in 55.6, the last 600 in 41.1.

On the plough, Relentless One, who could race at Taranaki next Saturday, ran a good trial when timed 800m in 49.5, the last 600 in 36.2.

Pichola left 800m behind in 50.6, the last 600 in 37.4, and Zealandia covered the same assignment in 50.7 and 37.6. Zealandia's stablemate, a maiden by Magic Ring, sprinted 600m in 38.

Valley Gold and an Al Akbar stablemate stretched out boldly over 800m in 51.8, the last 600 in 38.9, while Otaki runners Jungle Recipe (mdn 1200m) and Just A Whisper (r70 1400m) ended with 38.9 as well. Fog again hindered timing.

Superturf (by Black Minnaloushe), who debuts in the maiden 3yo 1200m, had the same problem, but finished with 38.9 as well. He had two trials at Otaki last month, finishing first (heavy) and second (slow) respectively over 1000 metres.

Isla Norte, who had two unplaced raceday runs in the autumn for trainer Tony Kaye, ran 1000m in 1.6.1, the last 600 in 38.3, and Ritzy sprinted 600m in 39.9.

Otaki maiden debutant Keepin It Up (by Keeper) had a Howbaddouwantit 2-year-old alongside over 800m, the last 600 in 39.7. Keepin It Up has been to the trials twice for two seconds at Otaki (800m).

Keep The Heat had trainer Trina Marshall aboard when running 1000m, the last 600 in 40.6, and Clarence, in the r70 2100m at Otaki tomorrow, warmed up from the 1200m mark and was timed from the 1000m in 1.9.1, the last 600 in 40.2.

Noah's Delight sprinted 600m in 42.7, and Black Ink (by Black Minnaloushe), trained by the Hurdles, took 43. Black Ink won a trial (1000m) at Otaki at the end of May.
