A regional delegation led by Manfeild Park Trust members will meet with motorsport's ruling body in July to make a presentation to keep the New Zealand Grand Prix at the Manfeild circuit until 2014.

The delegation will comprise representatives from the trust, Palmerston North City Council, Manawatu District Council and Sport Manawatu.

Trust chairman Ben Vanderkolk said the Palmerston North-headquartered Toyota New Zealand would also provide its backing.

The trust had hoped to make a presentation to MotorSport New Zealand tomorrow, the day before its annual meeting, but was turned down.

"MotorSport New Zealand president Steven Kennedy has since been in touch, and given us the opportunity to present to a scheduled executive meeting on July 25-26," said Mr Vanderkolk.

"Were happy with that. We understand it is the executive that makes the decision about where the New Zealand Grand Prix is held, not the AGM and not the promoters."

He said he was heartened by Toyota New Zealand coming out in support subsequent to the trust going public with its aim to keep the grand prix.

"Their public expression of support was encouraging. Our bid to maintain host rights to the grand prix will be powerful, professional and persuasive."

The trust sees the New Zealand Grand Prix as a high-status event integral to Manfeild's development. Contested by the Toyota Racing Series single-seater class, it is the premier prize in domestic motorsport.

Manfeild was awarded the grand prix for three years until next year.
