Winning lotto tickets worth $4.5m

If you bought a Lotto ticket in Blenheim last week it might be worth checking your numbers.

A lucky punter won $4.5 million with Lotto Powerball first division in Saturday night's live Lotto draw.

The winning ticket was sold at Countdown Blenheim.

Another Lotto player from Blenheim can also celebrate after winning $500,000 with Lotto first division. That winning ticket was sold at Pak 'n Save Blenheim.

According to Lotto New Zealand corporate communications advisor Kirsten Robinson the two ticket holders had not claimed their prizes by last night.

Robinson said the double win was very unusual, but not unheard of.

''It's definitely been a particularly lucky weekend for Blenheim - it's very exciting,'' she said.

The big wins come a week after Powerball was struck by a Christchurch player, who quit his job after he won $14.3million with a ticket purchased in Ashburton.

Lotto New Zealand's head of corporate communications Emilia Mazur said to have two big Powerball wins, two weeks in a row was incredible.

''We're looking forward to meeting our latest Powerball winner and welcoming them to the Lotto millionaire's club,'' she said.
