Tasman is already taking a big bite out of the Southland Stags in at least one Blenheim location ahead of their ITM cup clash tonight.

The teams play at Lansdowne Park, in Blenheim, at 7.35pm and Mitchell Sports in Wynen St has gone for a graphic display of the Tasman Makos' ability.

Mitchell Sports sales assistant Gareth Smith said the shop aimed to do a display for every game the Makos play in Blenheim and the antlers seemed to fit when they were looking for an idea for the display, showing how confident they were of a Makos win.

"We thought it would be good to have a stag in the mako's mouth. I shot the deer years ago, but they've just been sitting at home and they were the perfect ones."

The display was proving popular with lots of people stopping for a look as they walk past the store, he said.
