Hobbit broker's chance to shine
"Quite surreal and very exciting"ROBIN RAYMOND
Paige Phillips was on hand to watch her mother, Hobbit travel broker Ainsley Kelly, walk the red carpet at the event, and said it was a special atmosphere.
"It was very stressful running around helping mum get ready and it was really hot today, but the crowd was crazy and Wellington turned on a great day. I think it was very special to have it in Wellington. Everyone got really involved, some people dressed up, there were lots of women dressed up as elves, and people camped all night so it's nice to see."
Although she did not see any stars, Miss Phillips said seeing her mother on the red carpet was "quite surreal and very exciting".
"It was about 20 minutes they were on the carpet and I was trying to get through to the front [of the crowd] to take photos and telling people ‘that's my mum'. I got a few rude comments, but mostly people were very nice."
Ms Kelly had arranged the travel for cast and crew on the film from her home office in Rapaura, often working 15-hour days.
Despite being a Hobbit fan, Miss Phillips said she was happy to let her mum get first viewing.
"I think she really deserves it with all the hard work she did."
