Sporting Edge
Happy camper: Express photographer Scott Hammond in his "plush'' accommodation at the Lake Karapiro camping ground last week.
05:00am 23 Feb 2012 I've been attending national rowing championships for the last 12 years and thoroughly enjoyed last week's event at Lake Karapiro, especially when the Marlborough-based Central RPC took out the elite men's eight title for the first time.

People have an opportunity to forget about their terrible situation for a short time and enjoy the atmosphere of a Coast to Coast finish. The athletes themselves are all special people with powers of discipline to train so hard and for such long hours, trying to be good enough at running, cycling and kayaking to get the job done
Why don't the marlborough express have a secret diner, a bit like the secret shopper, they could send someone out each week to dine at one of the Restaurants and report back and an article done in the paper. One of the places mentioned in the article above I would never recommend because of the terrible experience a group of 10 of us had there. Example, waiter dirty clothes, looked lijke he had just come out of the vineyards, meals cold, and they all looked the same no matter what was ordered, 45 minutes to get one of the meals and then it was wrong, the waitress collecting all the plates and stacking them in from of my husband, scrapping food all onto one plate and pressing it down with her hand so she could get more on, only enough milk for 2 coffees, this was at 8.30 at night with the place full, never been back and wouldn't like any of our tourists to go there either.

It seems to me that this reporter is a bit biased about restaurants in this town if you are not in the town centre then you don't exist. Come on if you are going to report something at least be fair about it. Im sure Im not alone in thinking this!!!!!
