A Blenheim guitarist will share the stage with New Zealand rock group The Exponents at The Classic Hits Winery tour 2014.

Mitch Alderlieste, guitarist for Blenheim band Arm the Reckless entered a Classic Hits FM competition to win a chance to perform with the band.

"I entered a video of myself playing and The Exponents themselves picked me to perform with them - it's amazing. One person was chosen to play with them at each venue," he said.

He almost didn't believe it when he was told on Saturday that he had won.

He has been a fan of the band since he was much younger and loved their music, he said.

"When I started performing I often covered their songs - now I'll get to sing Who Loved Who The Most live, with the band," Mitch said.

He is looking forward to the opportunity to go backstage before the show and talk to the band.

"I'm sure we'll have a practice run to get things sorted and make sure I get it right when we are on stage.

"I'm just as excited to talk to them. They have accomplished so much and every bit of information they are willing to share would benefit me," he said.

The Classic Hits Winery tour 2014 starring The Exponents, Stan Walker and Breaks Co-Op is at Villa Maria Estate near Blenheim on March 1.
