A cross between the petunia and calibrachoa species, the petchoa supercal hybrid is one of the exciting and versatile newbies on the block.

In gorgeous clear colours, such as deep velvety purple, cherry red and even blue, petchoa supercal looks great in hanging baskets, mass plantings, rockeries, and sunny, well-drained spots.

It blooms repeatedly from late spring until the first frosts, doesn't need too much water – although regular moisture helps – and produces vigorous flowers and lush foliage. It is disease-resistant, with no sticky foliage, and is an outstanding performer in most weather conditions.

Plants featured in this column are available at Marlborough Mitre 10 Mega.
