Strong wind has caused two trees to fall in Marlborough this morning.
A tree partially blocked Old Renwick Rd between Jacksons Rd and S t Leonards Rd early this morning.
Marlborough Roads highway manager Frank Porter said at 8.30am contractors had pulled the tree off the road about 7am and were in the final stages of carting it away.
Another tree was down on State Highway 1 at Tuamarina but it was not blocking the road, he said.
The fallen tree was reported about 8am and had fallen on the side of the road.
Marlborough Roads was not expecting more trees down as strong northwesterly winds were abating, Porter said.
Is the region better served by having multiple events over one weekend or spread out throughout the year?Related story: (See story)
