A wild rabbit pizza made with meat supplied by a Marlborough wild game company sold out in less than three weeks.

Premium Game co-owner Brent Thomson sold 600 kilograms of rabbit to Hell Pizza for a rabbit pizza released to coincide with Easter.

According to the Hell Pizza Facebook page, 13,000 rabbit pizzas were sold, making it Hell Pizza's busiest week in their 18-year history.

Thomson said the company had received great feedback about their rabbit. Rabbit had always been a top seller, he said.

The order was a one-off and he didn't know if rabbit would be on the pizza menu next year.

Hell Pizza came under fire after 550 rabbit pelts were used on a billboard to advertise the new rabbit pizza.
