A 46-year-old woman appeared in the Blenheim District Court yesterday, where she admitted stabbing her partner.
Police prosecutor sergeant Mark Harris said Wendy Ann-Marie Gullery had stabbed her de facto partner in the abdomen following an argument on May 1.
The Redwoodtown cleaner and her partner had been at home when the argument took place and her partner went to bed about 8pm.
She got angry that he had gone to bed and went to the bedroom to tell him to leave the house. He told her to leave the room.
Gullery went to the kitchen and got a large knife. She went back to the bedroom, and when her partner got up, she stabbed him in the abdomen, before putting the knife back and ringing emergency services.
She told police she had snapped due to constant abuse from her partner, and said he had run into the knife.
Gullery yesterday admitted a charge of injuring under circumstances that if death had been caused she would have been guilty of manslaughter.
Judge Richard Russell remanded her for sentencing on June 30.
