Booking made a year ago
The Marlborough Convention Centre booking that clashes with next year's Saint Clair Vineyard Half Marathon had been organised more than a year ago, says Marlborough District Council executive project manager Jamie Lyall.
The Saint Clair Vineyard Half Marathon post-race dinner is being moved to a new venue next year after four years at the Convention Centre because of a double booking on the same Saturday the event has run for the past eight years.
A Rotary International Conference will be held at the centre on May 9. The conference will run for four days and is expected to attract about 150 people.
It had been in the system for more than a year, Lyall said.
Scenic Circle Convention Services Ltd has the lease to manage the Marlborough Convention Centre.
Securing dates was a matter between the half marathon organiser and Convention Centre management, Lyall said.
Scenic Circle Convention Services would not comment.
