Locked house found open
A Blenheim woman came home to find her back door wide open and a plastic crockpot burning on the stove, police say.
Constable Andrew Holdaway, of Blenheim, said the woman, in her 30s, arrived at her Woodward St home, in Woodbourne, about 7.30pm on Tuesday. The back door was open and a crockpot had melted on an element on the stove.
The woman told police she had not left the stove on and had locked the door when she left at 7.30am that morning, Holdaway said. The crockpot had melted but had not caught fire.
A forensic officer had taken fingerprints at the house, and police were investigating the incident, he said.
