Marlborough-based Royal Society of New Zealand chief executive Di McCarthy is to retire this month.
McCarthy has been the society's head for seven years and society president Sir David Skegg thanked her for her contribution. Skegg said Institution of Professional Engineers chief executive Andrew Cleland would replace her in September.
Cleland was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand in 1995 when he was Professor of Food Engineering at Massey University.
