A Blenheim bar will shut its doors for 24 hours after serving alcohol to a minor.

Scotch Wine Bar, in Maxwell Rd, will close from 9am on Friday until 9am on Saturday after staff sold alcohol to two 17-year-old boys in December.

The Bottle-O liquor store, in Picton, also failed the December police sting.

It was the first of two liquor-licence breaches for Scotch, which was busted again in April selling alcohol to a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl.

Biddy Kates Irish Bar in Market St, Fairweathers Bar in Scott St, and Paddy Barrys in Scott St were also caught in the April sting.

Senior Sergeant Peter Payne, of Blenheim, said applications to suspend the licences of the bars caught in the April operation had been made to the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority.
