A large slip on Port Underwood Rd following heavy rain last week is expected to take at least a fortnight to clear.
Marlborough Roads assets manager Steve Murrin said work to clear the debris, near Whatamango Hill, had begun yesterday.
The road is open on either side of the slip, but residents who travel from beyond Whatamango to Picton will have at least an extra hour travel time with a detour in place through Rarangi.
Work was also to begin this week putting a replacement bridge in position in Speeds Rd between Blenheim and Picton after the supports of an old timber bridge were washed out in the flood.
Ward Beach Rd, Reserve Rd, Hodder Ford at Awatere Valley Rd and Foster St in Seddon remain closed.
