Nelson Marlborough District Health Board's financial performance is on track for the financial year.
For the year to date the board has reported a surplus of $5.6 millon. Chief executive Chris Fleming said the surplus placed them in a positive position to support investments in 2014-2015, an extensive capital programme expected in IT and seismic strengthening of buildings.
The financial risks of Wairau Hospital's heavy reliance on locums and that clinical supplies were budgeted below the expected level had been offset, Fleming said.
Outsourced medical workforce costs amounted to more than $2.8m, driven by locum cover. Clinical supplies had cost $586,000.
