50th property joins expanding Asure group
Blenheim-based Asure Accommodation Group has welcomed its 50th property to the group this week.
Asure Amalfi Motor Lodge in Christchurch was the 50th property to join the nationwide marketing accommodation on Monday.
Asure accommodation owners benefit from joint marketing.
The group's managing director Doug Robinson said having 50 properties in the Asure group was a big milestone.
Robinson, who also owns and runs Asure Sundowner Motel in Springlands with his wife Dorothy Nolan said he attended a group meeting last month where they discussed the growth of the business.
"Craig [Morey], a member representative, said to me ‘did you think we would make it?' I had a vision we could make it if we did it right, so we must be doing it right.
"We don't have any target that we aim for, it's just the right people in the right location. We started off with just eight and we have steadily grown," Robinson said.
"To be able to do this over this time speaks for itself really."
The group began in 2007 with eight properties and now has 25 properties in the South Island and 25 in the North Island.
All properties are independently owned and operated.
Nolan said the properties in the group must have a Qualmark rating of 3 star plus or higher. Qualmark is New Zealand tourism's official quality assurance organisation.
