More than 10,000 Marlborough library users haven't used their library cards in the past two and a half years.
At June 30 this year, 27,335 people were registered with libraries in Blenheim and Picton. Of those, only 17,247 members had used their library cards since the beginning of 2012.
The figures were released as part of the Marlborough District Libraries Activities Report presented to the Marlborough District Council's community and finance committee meeting.
Marlborough chief librarian Glenn Webster said there was a plan to encourage all members to use the library. The numbers didn't take into account remote use of subscribed resources provided by the libraries, including online databases and e-resources.
