The interior of Blenheim's Church of Nativity was transformed into a floral masterpiece by the Marlborough Floral Art Group yesterday as part of the first day of this year's Hunter's Garden Marlborough festival.

Group president Moira Parry said it took 20 people about five hours to adorn the church.

The foyer is dedicated to Marlborough's 150th anniversary, and the church filled with individual works.

The group also has pieces on display at Heartland Hotel Marlborough, the Blenheim Club and the Marlborough Convention Centre.

The church is open to the public from today until Sunday afternoon. Entry is free, but donations are appreciated.

The six-day festival, which is in its 16th year, attracts hundreds of gardeners to its garden tours, workshops, cocktail party and fete each year.
