Woman's car takes a spin

A 46-year-old woman suffered moderate chest and hip injuries after her car flipped on State Highway 1 near Grovetown yesterday.

The accident at about 11am reduced traffic to one lane for about an hour.

Constable Kent Trollope of Blenheim said a Picton-bound car carrying just the woman driver "caught" a culvert on the side of the road and flipped before coming to rest on a fence post. Speed did not appear to be a factor, Mr Trollope said.

The woman was taken to Wairau Hospital.
