Flood damage bill $800,000

September's rainfalls are still causing headaches, with flood damage estimated to be about $800,000.
Marlborough Roads manager Frank Porter told the Marlborough District Council's assets and services committee meeting yesterday that there was "considerable" damage around the region.
Mr Porter said a claim had been lodged with the New Zealand Transport Agency with indications that works might be funded at, or near, the base subsidy rate.
Marlborough Roads asset manager David Miller highlighted the areas which needed fixing in a report presented to councillors.
In his report, he said significant damage happened at Mahakipawa Hill, where a retaining wall would be needed.
Dropouts on Kenepuru Rd, Ohingaroa Bay and near Nikau Bay also needed to be fixed, along with damage to Moetapu Bay Rd and Northbank Rd.
The committee backed a recommendation to endorse the actions by Marlborough Roads to date. The decision will go before the full council on December 10.
