The Marlborough District Council wants to hear about energy-saving measures being taken by businesses in Marlborough.

It's all part of a push to support leadership among local businesses in energy management or energy reduction in the leadup to Earth Hour on March 27.

Earth Hour was started by the World Wide Fund for Nature in Sydney in 2007. It is marked by people turning off their power switches for an hour and participation has grown each year.

Karen Walshe, of Walshe Marketing Services, said power price rises and increased energy use were categorised as a major business risk by forward-thinking companies.

Ms Walshe is working with the council to profile some of the region's businesses that have reduced energy consumption or are working to save energy.

To be in with a chance to be one of the profiled businesses, send an email, with photos attached if you wish, detailing what your business is doing to save energy. Send your email to karenwalshe@actriz.co.nz by 5pm on Monday.

Judges will be looking for creativity, ideas and actions that can be implemented over the long term and evidence of participation by everyone within your business.
