Occupants of a car that rolled onto its roof after hitting a bank south of Seddon on Friday escaped without injury, police say.

There were patched Mongrel Mob members at the scene, witnesses reported.

An agitated dog made it difficult for ambulance crews to get into the upturned car to check on its occupants.

A Blenheim St John ambulance spokeswoman said the people in the car were lucky to escape uninjured as the roof was pushed in badly.

Seddon Volunteer Fire Brigade chief fire officer Keiron Hebberd said a crew attended the accident to support the police and help with traffic control.
