Two more Marlborough residents have officially put their names forward for the Marlborough District Council elections in October.
Real estate agent Sue Duckworth and Pelorus-Northern Marlborough Sounds councillor Graeme Barsanti filed their official forms yesterday.
Ms Duckworth said she had always been interested in civic issues and is standing for the Blenheim ward.
"I did think about it three years ago but real estate was incredibly busy at that time, just couldn't see any way to fit in extra hours."
The market had steadied so she could find the 10 or 12 hours required to be a councillor.
Ms Duckworth is secretary of the Blue Door committee and former president of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce.
Pelorus-Northern Marlborough Sounds councillor Graeme Barsanti said he would stand for the new Marlborough Sounds ward, an amalgamation of the Pelorus-Northern Marlborough Sounds and Picton wards. He had concerns three Picton councillors might be elected on to the Marlborough Sounds ward, which would mean his area would not have representation.
Mr Barsanti has completed 21 years, or seven terms, as a councillor. "I believe I've got everything it takes to do the job that's required."
New nominations at 8am today: Graeme Barsanti, nominated by Wendy Waghorn and Michael Bradley; Sue Duckworth, nominated by Mark Stevenson and Judith Shanahan.
Already nominated: Trevor Hook, Francis Maher and Andy Wrighton.
