Letter shelter that's nautical but nice
Relevant offers
A love of fishing and the ocean inspired Bob Addiss of Marlborough to create this letterbox out of a broken outboard motor.
A keen fisherman since the age of eight, Mr Addiss rescued the motor from a man about to throw it away and made minor adjustments to make it capable of holding his mail.
The hunt is on throughout the country for creative people like Mr Addis in a competition to design and build a mailbox that goes against the stereotype of the traditional rectangular letterboxes of New Zealand.
The competition is being organised by the Kaipara Coast Plant Centre and Sculpture Gardens at Kaukapakapa, north of Auckland, and there are prizes for the most original, crazy and quirky letterboxes.
See sculpturegardens.co.nz for more information and entry forms.
Entries close on October 30.
